dance marathon

I worked with Dance Marathon for three years and have loved every second of it. Most recently, I took on the position of Public Relations Coordinator, in which I worked with our sponsors, cultivated and published content for our social media, and captured footage at our events. Overall, my goal was to increases awareness of Dance Marathon on campus. Prior to this position, I served as the External Director and Campus Life Recruitment Coordinator, during which I also did public relations work by creating flyers, social media graphics, and videos for our organization. My time with Dance Marathon is something I am very thankful for and I gained many skills from the experience.

This is a video I made about one of our most successful events, For More Love. It was a Valentine's Day themed event where participants could make valentines for the children in the hospital.

XI OMICRON IOTA

I was the Marketing & Outreach Chair for Missouri State University's local sorority, Xi Omicron Iota, from January of 2021-May 2021. In this position, I updated and maintained our website, planned and executed regular photo shoots, captured footage of our sisters, developed advertising efforts for recruitment, and raised money for our philanthropy, The Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks. My biggest task was maintaining the Xi Omicron Iota social media accounts. I mainly focused on Instagram and Facebook since these platforms are where our target audience was, which includes Xi Omicron Iota members and their families as well as potential new members. In my position, some of my greatest accomplishments include aligning our social media with our branding and increasing our content interactions and accounts reached. During my time as the Marketing & Outreach Chair, I increased our accounts reached by 4.7% and content interactions by 51.2%. I greatly enjoyed my time as the Marketing & Outreach Chair for Xi Omicron Iota and am thankful for the opportunity.

Campaign manager for homecoming queen candidate

One of my best friends, Chrissy Nguyen, ran for homecoming queen on our campus of 24,000 students in the fall of 2021, and I was lucky enough to serve as her campaign manager. One of my biggest tasks was maintaining Chrissy’s social media presence. We posted several times a week and shared informative, fun content about Chrissy that allowed users to get to know her while staying in line with our campaign theme, “Let’s Nguyen This Thing!” In order to develop our social media content, I held various photoshoots with Chrissy and wrote captions for our posts. I then developed an effective social media plan and scheduled content through Later, which allowed us to stay on track throughout her campaign. Being Chrissy’s campaign manager was the first opportunity I have had to completely start a brand’s social media presence from scratch, which was an opportunity that I really enjoyed.

student content creator at missouri state university office of strategic communication

As a Student Content Creator at Missouri State University's Office of Strategic Communication, I had the opportunity to focus on Instagram and TikTok to create content that promoted the university and the incredible things happening on our campus. I was able to familiarize myself with Missouri State's brand voice and how they wished to be portrayed on social media and also gained experience following brand guidelines while still being creative and innovative with our content. Additionally, I gained experience following trends and finding ways to participate in them, and a few months after I had started, I was proud to see that the percentage of people engaging with our videos had risen significantly. Finally, through a social media audit project,  I earned skills in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting analytics and had the opportunity to present my findings to our team.
