WRITING
Purina media kit
During my time with Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, I created a media kit for Pooches in the Ballpark, a pet-friendly Cardinals game that Purina helps put on. The media kid includes a media advisory, pitching strategy and sample, timeline, key messages, and a sample social media post.
Camp Barnabas campaign
In my Public Relations Techniques & Cases class in the fall of 2021, we developed a campaign for a local non-profit, Camp Barnabas, a summer camp for those with disabilities. This project gave me the opportunity to develop a relationship with the client and create a campaign from start to finish. Click the button to read the full campaign!
417 Magazine press release
This is a press release I wrote for 417 Magazine while I served as their Audience Development Intern. The purpose of the press release is to announce the arrival of our new Food Editor, Jorge Cespedes. This press release was sent out to several leaders in the Springfield community.
dance marathon press release
In my Public Relations Writing class, we were assigned with writing a press release for a non-profit in the Springfield area. I wrote about Dance Marathon, a fundraising effort for local hospitalized children. I happened to be on the executive board for Dance Marathon, so I was very familiar with the organization. I focused my press release on Dance Marathon's search for participants in their fundraising efforts.
illinoisouth blogs
During my internship at ILLINOISouth Tourism, one of my recurring tasks was to write blog posts for our weekly Road Trip Roundup blog. This blog included entries from ILLINOISouth and several of the counties we covered and provided ideas for things to do in the area related to a certain topic, such as brunch or ice cream places. I wrote several blog posts for the Road Trip Roundup blog and greatly enjoyed getting feedback on my writing in a professional setting as well as finding some fun places to visit!
journalism story
In my Introduction to Journalism class, I wrote a news story about the parking lot renovation that was taking place on the Missouri State campus. Students are constantly frustrated with the lack of parking spots and the dangerous pot holes in the lots, therefore this story was very relevant as students were elated to hear about the renovation. I also had a friend whose car had recently been stolen from the parking lot, so I focused the story on his situation as well as the safety measures that were being included in the parking lot renovation.
feature news story
In my Introduction to Journalism class, I was tasked with writing a feature story that was relevant to the Springfield, Missouri and Missouri State University population. I chose to write about the annual birthday party put on by the Student Alumni Association to celebrate Missouri State University. My friend, Reiley Snavely, was the president of the Student Alumni Association, so I focused my story on the role she and her organization played in the birthday party event.
broadcast journalism script
My Introduction to Journalism professor tasked me with writing a script for a broadcast news story based on a provided prompt detailing a gas leak at a local high school. We were required to use the proper formatting for broadcast journalism, include all of the relevant information, and keep the story brief.
performing in scotland
When the time came to write college essays, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. In my junior year of high school, I was lucky enough to travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest theatre festival in the world. Performing the role I was given was not an easy task, but I made the most of it and am so grateful for the opportunity.
